Life Beyond the Room, or LBR, is a destination management company dedicated to creating custom, unique itineraries for travelers seeking authentic experiences immersed in the lifestyle, flavors and culture of each region.

Their mission of preserving culture and tradition through meaningful travel, plus their deep ties to Italy, have allowed them to partner with boutique, locally-owned accommodations that maintain a strong sense of place and allow travelers an authentic and immersive experience like no other.

LBR was founded by Karen Costa Hattaway, an Italian native, and her husband, Jett, whom she met while studying abroad in the United States. Their passion for traveling, foreign languages, and different cultures inspired them to create LBR in 2018. Since then, they have been on a mission to bring authentic travel experiences to their clients. She focuses on sustainability and preserving the places LBR visits as a forefront of every travel experience she offers.
